IEEE ODTÜ Öğrenci Kolu was founded in 1990 by 12 founding members as one of the 1,150 student branches of IEEE Global, the world’s largest technical professional organization. Since then, it has continued its activities not only with members from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, but also with students from various departments, organizing events that appeal to students from all disciplines.

Since 1990, our community has carried out numerous activities and, through its dedicated efforts, has;

• In 1998, it was awarded the title of “IEEE Region 8 Exemplary Student Branch Award,” recognizing it as the most outstanding student branch in IEEE Region 8 (covering all of Europe, North Africa, and West and Central Asia).
• In 1998, it was recognized as the “World’s Most Outstanding IEEE Student Branch” with the Worldwide Outstanding Student Branch Award.
• In 2005, it received the “Larry K. Wilson Award,” one of the most prestigious awards in IEEE Region 8.
• In 2007, it received the “Darrel Chong Student Activity Award” for TZ3.
• In 2007, it was named the “Most Active Student Branch in IEEE Region 8” (IEEE Region 8).
• In 2010, 2011, and 2018, it was awarded the “IEEE Region 8 Exemplary Student Branch Award,” recognizing it as an outstanding student branch across IEEE Region 8 (covering all of Europe, North Africa, West Asia, and Central Asia).
• In the 2022–2023 period, it was awarded the title of “Best Power and Energy Technical Subunit in Türkiye.” IEEE METU Student Branch

IEEE METU Student Branch carries out its activities with a local perspective and a global mindset. One of its primary goals is to contribute to the personal development of its members through the events it organizes.

Having adopted contemporary and systematic growth as a core principle, the activities of IEEE METU Student Branch receive extensive coverage in both local and international media, showcasing both the versatile environment of IEEE METU and the professional competencies of its students.

To date, IEEE METU Student Branch has had the honor of organizing numerous successful national-scale events. The projects it has carried out with a strong sense of social responsibility have earned it a respected position among student clubs and communities in Türkiye.
